I enjoyed spending time with Howard when we would fly in from the UK to visit my wife’s Mum Doris. He was every thing you picture as a long time Air Force Veteran. Always standing by the door with his coat on 20 minutes before ‘take off’ and tell very interesting short stories when asked. He obviously had a very busy life after the military, which why he was one of a kind.

I was fortunate to meet Howard in the early 80's through a tax organization (Washington State Tax Consultants) that he helped to organize. He was a great influence to many tax professionals, as well as to myself in the early years in that profession.
After he retired, he continued to be involved with WSTC activities and he used to make many wonderful wood carvings that he shared with all of us.
He and Doris were kind enough to spend a bit of time with my husband, Ron and myself occasionally and we will miss him. His manner was always that of a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

I remember the days in the early 80s when we were all fishing in Westport and I believe Howard was a deck hand for one of our friends Red Anderson down at the Islander who also has passed away. And thanHoward did our taxes for several years. He always had a wonderful smile. And he still looks as young in his picture as he did back in the 80s. Those were the good times. We will miss you Howard. Wayne and Shirley Jones.
I had the privilege to have Howard as a friend for just a short time. I met him as a Hospice volunteer just a few months ago. We talked about our time in the military, sports, and current events. I ask Howard what kind of food he missed, his answer "I'd love a steak" sent me on a mission. Howard and Doris had an Appelbee's steak dinner on his birthday in his room at the care center. We had balloons, and red velvet cupcakes!
Howard is the kind of person who makes you feel like you have been friends all your life. I thank him for his service to our country, and will consider myself very lucky to have known him.
