Granny’s Hammer
Grannie Annie had a hammer, which she loved to give away.
She would give her hammer to her grandchildren
But,
On very separate days.
Each child was told,
“This special hammer is just for you. When you come over to my home a project, ‘I will let you’ do.”
The children loved their gift and they all cherished it so,
And none of them were the wiser but the hammer and Grannie Annie,
they did know.
On a special day a child came to play and the hammer he went and got.
Another child saw this, got mad and of course, they fought.
They ran through the house arguing about whose hammer it was.
Each child yelling, “It’s mine, it’s mine, because…”
The two struggled and they fought, until tears were shed,
Because one of the children,
got bonked on the head.
There is more to the story but it is the lesson we need…
Make each child feel special, because when they do,
The child won’t just cherish the hammer, they will also cherish you.
I miss you.
