Herman "Nick" Lee Nickles' Obituary
Herman "Nick" Lee Nickles, born in Selma, Alabama to Ella Mae Murray passed away on January 7, 2020 in Lacey, Washington at the age of 65.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was active duty for over 26 years in the Maintenance Career Field working on jet engines such as the F-4C Phantom II, F-15, F-16, KC-135, and C-17. His duty stations included Ching Chuan Kang AB, Taiwan; Kadena AB, Japan; Castle AFB, CA; Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, and McChord AFB, WA. He met his ex-wife (Chun Huang) while stationed in Taiwan and they have 3 daughters together. He retired from the Air Force as a SMSgt (E-8) at McChord AFB, WA. He worked as an Independent Contractor installing entertainment systems after his retirement from the Air Force.
He loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing and occasionally hunting in his free time when not smoking ribs or helping his friends work on cars. He continued to make Lacey, WA his home until the time of his passing. He also would drive down yearly to California for a fishing and bbq trip to with his daughters Chun Mei and Mei Li.
He is survived by his three daughters Diana, Chun Mei, and Mei Li, and sister Rebecca.
There will be two services on Monday February 3, 2020. The first service will be at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA starting at 10AM at the Aspen Chapel with a reception to follow. The second service will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA starting at 2PM for the Military Funeral Honors.
