Helene SchmidtHelene Schmidt died on April 13, 2003 in Tacoma while her husband, Irvin; daughter Kristine (Mrs. Robert Perez); sister, Anneliese Foreman; son, Byron; and daughter-in-law Teresa and their children, Philip and Sophia were visiting her at Manor Care to observe her 72nd birthday. She was born Helene Growe, to Theodore Growe and Elizabeth (Semrau) Growe in Goersdorf, Poland on April 13, 1931. She is survived by those mentioned above and also a sister, Maria Ott, of Radolfzell, Germany and a brother, Alphons Growe of Geilingen, Germany.Helene was a beautician and owned and operated HeleneÂ's Hair Fashions in Tacoma from 1978 until 1998. Prior to that she was employed by JimmyÂ's House of Beauty in Tacoma.She was preceded in death by her mother and father, three brothers, Felix, Kurt and Rudi; and a sister, Greta.Her poise, tact and discretion, as well as her bright sense of humor and sense of elegance will sorely be missed. She suffered a series of strokes during the past two years, each more debilitating, culminating in her death on Sunday. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, business-person, and most of all, a real friend.Rest in Peace.Private services will be held at Mt. View Garden Chapel.
