Helena Elizabeth Johnson's Obituary
Helena Elizabeth Johnson passed away September 12, 2010 at Manor Care in Tacoma, Washington. She was preceded in death by her son John, and leaves behind a loving husband, Ivan Johnson, sister Jenny Davies, son Peter Lichtblau, grandchildren Scott, Angie, Brad, and Brittany, great-grandchildren, and many friends. Born in Vienna, Austria, Helena moved to the US in 1950. She made her way to San Diego, California, where she worked as a medical receptionist and met and fell in love with Ivan Johnson of the US Air Force. In the early years, Ivan's military career relocated the couple many times and in 1964 landed them in Fircrest, Washington, where they settled and spent most of their lives. Helena had a passion for animals and enjoyed surrounding herself with them. She went out of her way to care for any wild or stray. Special trips to the bakery were made to purchase bread to feed the birds that gathered in her front yard. Neighborhood felines stopped by her house for brief visits, morsels, and a friendly pat, knowing they were always welcome. Helena's interests included cooking, astrology, lunching with friends, and enjoying her rose garden. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, October 9, 2010 in the Mountain View Aspen Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, Washington. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society , the American Diabetes Association , the Humane Society, or your favorite charity.
