Helen F. Swensen's Obituary
Our mom, Helen F. Swensen, left on her last trip to join Daddy in Heaven on July 18, 2006. Born in Warren, PA on August 29, 1923 to Dominick and Mary Juliano. She attended the Erie, PA public schools along with her 8 brothers and sisters.Mom met a handsome young military man, Arthur Swensen and married him on July 10, 1945. They provided a loving home for their four children in Parkland. Helen supported ArtÂ's choice of making the military his career. Her courage, strength and love was shown many times as she raised us children stateside when the army sent dad away on assignment. Mom also participated in many activities at Bethel High School when dad chose teaching as a second career.Art and Helen loved to try new things. He learned to scuba dive after the age of 60 and Helen learned to swim and snorkel so they could travel the globe on dive trips. As we left the nest they began to travel more. They enjoyed trips to Spain, Norway, Belgium, France, Poland, Mexico, Australia, Philippines, Hawaii and Alaska. They traveled to the Virgin Islands by way of Windjammer sailing ships on three different occasions. They also enjoyed traveling by car throughout the US, visiting friends and relatives along the way.Mom was a member of the Woman of the Moose Chapter 511, and loved to play BINGO with all of her friends. She also enjoyed trips to the casino.Preceded in death by her husband Arthur T. Swensen, her son Robert J. Swensen, her parents and 5 brothers and sisters. She is survived by two brothers Paul Juliano of Detroit, MI, and Dominick Juliano of Erie, PA, and one sister Josephine Unger of Erie, PA, three children: Ann Marie Ricevuto and husband Chuck of Oroville WA, Gail T. Swensen of Couer DÂ'Alene, ID, and Mary Ann Lewandowski and husband Mike of Spanaway, WA; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also special friends Hervey and Erna Goupil, Jackie Jackson and Greta Herringshaw, Shirley Myers, Alby Legarksy, Kathy Hinkle, all of Tacoma, and Edgar and Lovely Meukens of Belgium.Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2006 in the Mountain View Valley Chapel.
