Last year, I had the privilege to meet Guy and his beautiful family as our Scout group prepared to go to Philmont over the summer. Throughout our hikes and backpacking days, he seamlessly blended in with the rest of the group. Considerate of others, he made friends wherever he went. He was a bit of a dreamer; I would often see him with a quiet smile on his lips. His wry sense of humor always shone through, even in challenging moments. And nearly every photo I have of him includes his signature thumbs-up pose. He was a wonderful young man and his radiant spirit will be missed. I am thankful for the campfires we shared together and will always carry memories of him in my heart.
I've known gui since he joined scouts, and watched him mature more and more. He was such a little goofball and as much as I say he annoyed me with his jokes, they always brang a smile to my face and a laugh to others. I feel like I dont know him enough for how much time I've known him, we had just started talking more when he passed and I just wish he could still be with us. Me and him were working on quartermaster together for Ship 110 and we're going to advance together. I have so many small stories that bring me joy and sadness, I miss you man. This year will be the first long cruise I've been without you. 💚🕊️
The last camping trip France & I took the Bega Mobile out, Guy & Morgan were sitting behind us. Eventually, the conversation turned to what one of Guy's favorite snacks was... GoGurts. I think it was apple GoGurts. Whatever the flavor, it was the only flavor no one else liked... except for Stella.
& there went Morgan, down the rabbit hole to Guy stealing GoGurt from his little niece, a baby at that!
Guy laughed so hard trying to defend himself. That laugh, tears running down his face & actually unable to talk straight!
It was a beautiful sound. I'll always hold it close.
I am so heartbroken and sad to hear of this terrible tragedy.
