Gordon King Iverson's Obituary
Gordon King Iverson "Gordy" was born on December 2, 1945 in Tacoma, Washington. He recently passed away on July 30, 2021 in his home in Tacoma. He is survived by his sister Joy Suzanne Iverson of Gig Harbor, step-sister Marlene Bennett of Florida, step-brother Theodore Stephan Miko of Georgia, step-children Sonnie Bates Fuller of Tacoma, Wendie Aamot of Arizona, and Kit Gregory, Tacoma. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Duncan Iverson, as well as his wife and love of his life, Georgia Ann Iverson. Gordy graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1963. He attended Tacoma Community College and graduated in 1975 with an A.A. He is a retired supervisor of Pierce County Transit. He served in the army and was a proud Vietnam veteran. In Vietnam, he served as a radio operator for the 2nd Battalion 4th Artillery, 9th division. He was honorably discharged from service on 5/16/68 and carried his love for radio with him by getting his Ham Radio License. His love for Rock n' Roll music and classic cars were passions that began in the 50's when he was a young boy and continued throughout his entire life. He had a knack for electronics and was a natural wizard when computers were introduced. Gordy enjoyed spending regular visits with his family and life-long friends, including fellow Vietnam Vets and past co-workers from Peirce County Transit. One of his favorite places to go with friends was Fergi's on the Ave for breakfast before watching a Seahawk's game. He also loved to travel because he loved to drive. Any place, any time, any excuse was good enough to get behind the wheel of his favorite Cadillac. Although Gordy's book of life is now closed, for all those who shared a page in his story, we can all be thankful and rejoice that his life was filled with love, laughter, and happiness. He will be missed by all that knew him. He will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery with full honors on September 7, 2021 at 2:30 p.m.
