Goldie’s Bible Highlighting
NOTE Goldie had a variety of Bibles. The one she seemed to highlight—and write notes in—the most is a Good News Bible with Deuterocanonicals/Apocrypha. These are the actual words that she highlighted; her handwritten comments are shown under quoted passages, when she made them.
She’d marked up various books of the Bible. This seems to be one she enjoyed.
The Book of Romans
For we conclude that a person is put right with God only through faith, and not by doing what the Law commands. (Chapter 3, verse 28)
Now that we have been put right with God through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Chapter 5, verse 1)
And just as all people were made sinners as the result of the disobedience of one man [Goldie wrote in “Adam”], in the same way they will all be put right with God as the result of the obedience of the one man (Chapter 5, verse19)
[Goldie wrote in “Jesus—gift of righteousness for all”].
We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose. (Chapter 8, verse 28)
For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither present nor the future, neither the world above nor the world below—there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Chapter 8, verses 38-39)
For Christ has brought the Law to an end, so that everyone who believes is put right with God.”
[Goldie wrote in “given righteousness to those who believe”]. (Chapter 10, verse 4)
Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. (Chapter 12, verse 2)
Love one another warmly as Christians, and be eager to show respect for one another. Work hard and do not be lazy. Serve the Lord with a heart full of devotion. (Chapter 12, verses10-11)
May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace by means of your faith in him, so that your hope will continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Chapter 15, verse13)
[Goldie wrote in “believe the experience of faith. Bubble over with hope”].
