Gloria Jean Etsuko Uncangco's Obituary
Gloria Jean Etsuko Uncangco passed away peacefully in her home May 10th, 2023 at the age of 81.
Gloria was the matriarch of her family and one of the strongest roots of the family tree, which continues to grow and prosper today because of the sacrifices she made for them. She was proud of her Japanese/Islander heritage and a dedicated wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nothing made her happier than to cook for all the family get-togethers. She loved the outdoors and all activities that came with it as she shared that with her husband, Ricardo. She loved camping, fishing, squidding, smelting, catching octopus and digging for razor clams. She was nicknamed Iron Chef Uncangco because of her love for cooking and the incredible food she made that left everyone salivating for more.
Gloria is survived by her two sons, Ricardo Jr. (Rick) and wife, Annette, Mark and wife, Brenda; sister, Janice Tanaka; grandchildren, Amanda, Sierra, Breanna, Elena, Steven and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Cali, Cooper, Levi, Ollie, Carter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gloria was born on April 16, 1942 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Mr. Yasaburo Kimoto & Ms. Matsuno Kimoto. She married Ricardo Uncangco Sr. on January 29, 1968 in Honolulu, HI.
Gloria was a homemaker, while Ricardo served 22 years in the military. When Ricardo retired, she started her career in the aerospace industry making airplane parts. She retired from that industry with a pension after 20 years.
