Gillian (Jill) Garbush Burslem's Obituary
Jill Burslem was born on September 6, 1955. She passed away at her home on December 7, 2015. She spent her life nurturing all around her. As a dog groomer and trainer at Ramrod Kennels, she helped pet owners raise obedient and happy dogs. She had a special touch with her canine friends.
Then she turned her attention to nurturing plants and flowers. You may have met her at Gordon’s Garden Center. There was scarcely a question she could not answer for the garden lovers among us. If she didn’t know, her skills as a life-long learner made it a joy to research and learn more about plants.
Perhaps her greatest accomplishment was the nurturing of her children. David Burslem joined his mother in her love of video games. Courtney Cannon joined them both with the joy stick and adventurous games. Daughter Allison Burslem inherited her mother’s love of nurturing children as an excellent educator, and they enjoyed a relaxing time together with a reality show. With daughter Jessie Burslem, she shared her love of gardening. The two could be found on nice afternoons, weeding the garden and listening to the Mariner’s game, Jill balancing a Diet Pepsi. As her passion for plants bloomed her garden did as well as she transformed it into a tropical jungle that would often cause passersby to stop in awe. She set the example for her children to make your passion become your work. All four of her children knew they could depend on their mom to support them in their education, and to celebrate holidays and birthdays and graduations with them.
She was a person of strong character who always did the right thing under any circumstance. She was dependable and honest, and had a retentive memory. She was the family "Google," amazing her children with her wide range of knowledge.
Jill will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please plant something new in your garden and think of Jill Burslem when you see it!
