Gilbert S. Rogers' Obituary
Gilbert Stanley Rogers, also known as “Nookie”, was born September 7, 1951 to the late Charles and Pearl Rogers in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. Of his four siblings, one brother, Charles Rogers Jr. and one sister, Lorraine Edmonds, both preceded him in death.
Gilbert was educated in the public schools of Linthicum Heights, MD. He graduated in the class of 1970 from Andover High School.
In 1971, Gilbert entered active duty, serving his country with the United States Army. He was a voice interceptor and he had many more duties while in the Army. He was a model soldier, who always gave his best. He earned many medals and ribbons for outstanding service, Foreign Service and longevity service. His military education includes, Korean language, Unit discussion leader, Technical Training Instructor Course and more. Gilbert served 22 years until his honorable discharge at retirement. Gilbert passed on Sunday, July 10, 2016 in Tacoma, Washington after a brief illness.
He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories; Two brothers Earl (Marva) and Allen of Randallstown, MD; Five nephews Michael, Steve, Christopher, Allen and Alex; Five nieces Tammi, Charlene, Tammy, Tiffany and Rukiyah; a host of other great nephews, nieces, relatives and friends; Jayra Gutijer whom Gilbert loved, Isabella, Arelin, Roberto and Robert Noeh Mareham. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service with the United States Army Military Honors present, will be held for Gilbert on Friday, July 29, 2016, 3:00 P.M. in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
