Franklin Xavier Holdener's Obituary
On January 11, 2024 Jesus welcomed home Franklin Xavier Holdener. Franklin was born June 24, 1933 to Frank and Anna Holdener in Ketchikan, Alaska. January 11, 1957 he married the love of his life, Dorothy Irene Ecklund, where they enjoyed 49 years together in Tacoma, Washington. They raised two 2 daughters, 2 nephews and had 4 foster children. At the age of 11, Frank had a paper route and was milking cows twice a day for a family friends dairy. Frank joined the Army in April 17, 1953 until April 15, 1955. He worked for Atlas Foundry Co Tacoma from 1952 to 1953 as a Gasoline Truck Driver. He worked for Fick Foundry in Tacoma as a Journeyman Molder from 1953 to 1987. He worked for the Bremerton Ship Yard as a Molder from 1987 to 1998 until he retired.
His hobbies were farming, gardening, tinkering in his garage and most of all sepnding time with family. He enjoyed the Summer get togethers at his house and swimming in the pool with family and close friends. All who knew him and met him fell in love with his great sense of humor, great stories, his smile and that laugh we will all remember so well. These are a few reasons his legacy will be remembered. We will always love our Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Brother and friend. Frank was a member of Lutheran Church of Christ The King in Tacoma and a supporter of many charities. Frank is preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy Holdener; his parents Frank and Anna Holdener and grandson Michael Horton.
He is survived by his daughters Katherine Crowley (Kelly), Susan Holdener, grandchildren James, Nicole all of Tacoma and Madisen of Seattle; nephews Patrick Roberts and Keith Roberts of Puyallup, companion Frances Kruse of Tacoma, many nieces, nephews and friends. A service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, Washington in the Aspen Chapel January 24th at 2:00 pm, this service will be live streamed (live stream information will be forthcoming) a reception will be immediatley followed next to the Chapel. A full military service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetary 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent, Washington January 25th at 12:30 pm.
