Frances Lucille (Kennedy)'s Obituary
Frances Lucille (Kennedy) MitchellFrances passed away peacefully November 9, 2004, with her family at her side, 11 days before her 88th birthday. Born in San Francisco November 20, 1916 to Frank and Alice Kennedy, Frances grew up on TacomaÂ's McKinley Hill. A 1935 Lincoln High School graduate, Frances married Edward Mitchell that same year, a marriage of 50 years until his death in 1986. To this union was born four children, Sharon (Mrs. Patrick Horrigan), Orting, WA; Sandra (Mrs. Charles Harris), Atlanta, GA; William (Lois), Sacramento, CA; Paul (Nancy), Tacoma, WA; with 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.In 1948, Frances began her world traveling adventures when the army stationed the family in Tokyo, Japan. They would later live in Italy and Taiwan, as well. She was a good ambassador, making friends with local citizens and doing her best to learn their languages, which often involved unabashed comic signing and gesturing. After the familyÂ's military years, Frances went back to school, graduating as an LPN from Bates Technical College. With these skills, she helped many patients in Tacoma GeneralÂ's intensive care unit recover over the years. Known for the humorous and crazy things she did, Frances was known even more as an icon for strong and steadfast love of God, church and family. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Madigan Army Hospital, The Village, and Orchard Park Nursing Home for the care and attention given to our Mom during her sunset years.Memorial services will be at Mountain View in Tacoma, 3 p.m., Saturday, November 20th.
