Frances C. Skidmore's Obituary
Frances C. Skidmore of Tacoma passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 4th.
She was born in Pateros, Washington, April 10, 1923. After attending WSU and working a few years in Spokane, Frances relocated to Tacoma as a case worker at the Department of Social and Human Services in Tacoma.
In 1959 she married Marshall Skidmore. When their children were born she quit working for the state and helped her husband at their business, The Tacoma Daily Index, and raised their children. Frances went back to work in 1976 as a case worker for the state in Puyallup.
In her retirement she served on the Board for Tacoma Daycare and Preschool. Frances was proud to grow up the daughter of an orchardist in Eastern Washington, harvesting and selling the family's produce.
She was an accomplished pianist, loved swimming, water skiing, snow skiing, golf and ice skating. She was voted "Miss Pateros" as a senior in high school. Frances was devoted to family and friends all of her life. She loved family gatherings and enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas at her home. In the summer of 2011 she attended her 70th high school reunion in Pateros.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Marshall, in 2007. Survivors include children Marsha Perry (Jim), son Rev. Robert Skidmore (Vonna), grandchildren Michael, Emily, and Andrew Skidmore, Clara, Samuel and Hannah Perry.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel. Donations may be made to Children's Home Society, PO Box 123, Vaughn, WA 98394.
