Florence Hagen's Obituary
Florence Hagen
May 9, 1939 - September 6, 2024
Florence was born on May 9, 1939 in Spokane, Washington. Florence lead an active life and passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024, surrounded by her family, after a sudden illness. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, granddaughter Lindsey and her husband Sean, and son-in-law Gary. She is survived by her children Lorie (Bob), Jani, Teresa, and Amanda, as well as 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Florence was a child of God, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. She always made herself available to offer her friendship, support, and love. Florence will be remembered for being honest, direct, trustworthy, patient, and dependable. She had a sharp wit and a good sense of humor.
Florence’s special talents and skills included cooking, baking, sewing, and fiber art (knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and embroidery). She enjoyed playing cards and board games, solving crossword puzzles, working jigsaw puzzles, and exercising her green thumb with indoor and outdoor gardening.
Giving back, helping others, and being useful was important to Florence. After raising her children and caring for the children of others, Florence gave thousands of hours of her life to volunteer activities. She spent decades volunteering her time and special talents in service to Tacoma General Hospital, Sunset Bible Church, Tacoma Area Literacy Council, and donated hundreds of pints of blood to the American Red Cross.
Florence’s presence in our life will be sorely missed.
Memorial services for Florence will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Sunset Bible Church, 7909 40th St. W., Tacoma, WA 98466.
