Shaku Plunkett
Florence was very special to me. She took her time every weekend for 2 years to tutor me in reading. We would meet at the Tacoma Public Library. She was always patient and understanding when it came to how I learned and understood each lesson. Being an adult and having to learn something that I should have already learned to do was hard for me to overcome. Florence never gave up on me. She was a best friend to me and a mentor.
I left Washington State in August of 2021 swearing never to return because I absolutely hate the weather there. Florence and I kept in touch on the phone, however. In August 2024, I felt a need to go visit my friend. I’m glad to have had that time.
My heart goes out to her family.
