Federico Recardo's Obituary
A decorated WWII, Korean War veteran and a survivor of the Bataan Death March, Federico Recardo, 88, was a very active member of the American Ex-POW/MIA Tacoma Chapter. He was born in Leon, Iloilo, Philippines on Dec. 4th, 1916. He was a resident of Tacoma for 45 years. He came to Fort Lewis in the 1950s while serving in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class. Throughout his lifespan, he continued to receive recognition for outstanding service. After his discharge, he was employed by Western State Hospital where he retired. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing, walking at the mall with his beloved wife, dancing, fanatic about sports and especially cooking for his family. LoloÂ's cooking will be greatly missed. An exceptional outdoorsman and highly regarded for his culinary skills, he lived an amazing, full life. His children will miss his laughter, wisdom, stubbornness, and his ability to show his love without having to say it. They will always be proud of their father for his integrity, bravery, and pride. He excelled in everything he did and always walked with his shoes shined. Survivors include: sisters Jesusa & Juanita, brother Timothy and by his children Romeo (Barb), Federico Jr. (Claire), Roberto (Linda), and Elisa Pulley (Thomas). He leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Carmelita, and son Eduardo, Federico joined them on June 15, 2005. To celebrate his life, a full military service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Mountain View Funeral HomeÂ's Valley Chapel in Tacoma, WA.
