Fatima F. Muliufi's Obituary
Fatima F. Muliufi, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on May 30, 1953, in Leone, American Samoa. The 12th of 13 children born to Sagote and Taulagi Taupau, Fatima grew up surrounded by the deep love, laughter, and traditions that shaped her gentle and joyful spirit.
After graduating from high school, Fatima married the love of her life, Faasiu Muliufi. Together, they embarked on many adventures as his military career carried them to places near and far. No matter where life took them, Fatima created a home filled with warmth, faith, and unwavering devotion to family. She and Faasiu raised eight children, each one held close to her heart.
A devoted and hardworking woman, Fatima spent many years serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a nursing home, offering comfort and care with her natural compassion. She later became a phone operator for Verizon, where she built lasting friendships before retiring.
Fatima’s hands were rarely still—whether she was baking her famous half-moon pies and pani popo, or sewing traditional Samoan garments. Her puletasi, ofu tino, and mu‘u mu‘u were stitched with both expertise and love, each piece a reflection of her heritage and artistry. At family gatherings, her baked treats were cherished, and her laughter even more so.
Lighthearted and fun, Fatima had a smile that brought ease to any room. She was the one who kept family close—the protector, the encourager, the joyful presence at the center of every gathering. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her with grace through every season. And she never passed up the chance to go shopping, an activity she enjoyed with the same enthusiasm she brought to everything she did.
Fatima passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2026, in Tacoma, Washington, surrounded by the love of her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, her eight cherished children, 36 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, generosity, and boundless love—a legacy that will continue to shine brightly through the many lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
