Dear Sandra and Melodie & family,
When Duane & I moved into Grandview Estates in 1990, your mom was the first to welcome us. She lived downstairs and we were on the 3rd floor. Evelyn and I became good friends and went back and forth all the time. Rachel was just a little girl and we saw lots of her too. Evelyn was just a joy to know. Always smiling, always happy. She made the absolute best egg nog and had us down for our Christmas drink.Not a Christmas goes by that we don't think of her when we have our egg nog. It is never as good as her's as she knew just how much to heat it and when to stir. We kept in touch after we both moved and she was such a delight. She loved her animals and plants just as I did so we had lots in common. I loved her clothes and her earrings, that she never was without. We plan to be at the services on Sunday. This message is for Sandra and Melodie--You probably don't remember me, but I remember you. I'm Nancy, Harry and Bea Gilmour's daughter. Mom called me to tell me that Evelyn had passed away and it brought a flood of memories back. I'll never forget how enthusiastic your mom was about life when I was growing up. We used to go to her house (I can't remember where in Tacoma now) and I remember all of her animals. In particular, I remember her peacock, her monkey, and her parrot. I also remember her dangly earings. As I look at her picture in the paper, I see my grandma--Ruth. They're probably having a good old time up there in heaven right about now, don't you think?
I'm planning to come to the memorial service and I'm going to try to bring Bea and Hal. They are not moving too easily these days, so bringing them is a bit doubtful. Patty will be out of town, but she would have come if she has been here. I'm looking forward to seeing you after all of these years.
