Anyone who had even a moment of contact with Erna would understand it when I say: Erna was a true Servant Leader.
In the book of Matthew, it was written that the “Top Three†disciples, James, John and Peter, were taught by Jesus that they would be accepted on His team only if they became Servant Leaders. James and John embarrassed themselves by telling Jesus they wanted to be seated, one on each side of Jesus in the Kingdom of Heaven. At that time, they had not had the moment when Jesus washed their feet – as the ultimate symbol of being their Servant and also their Leader.
Jesus gently let them know that they would indeed find a special place in His Kingdom, once they became Servants to those who they led.
Erna was a Servant Leader to thousands of people. She had a positive outlook even in the darkest of times; she served people for needy Navaho children to the wealthy who were in need of love and affection.
I am so happy and thankful that I was able to have many moments in my life where I was able to witness Erna’s devotion to her God and to the people she served here on earth.
