Elizabeth B. Linstad's Obituary
Elizabeth (Betty) Blanche Linstad died in her home March 24, 2006 at age 86. Elizabeth was born Oct. 8, 1919 in Hartford, CT. She graduated from the Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing, New London, Connecticut in 1940. Joining the US Army in July 1942, she was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. and served the front line troops from Casablanca to Italy and France. While in the Army, she met and fell in love with Captain Howard O. Linstad and they married Aug. 28, 1945 in the office of the Mayor, Marseilles, France. Continuing her education, she received a Masters Degree in Biology in 1964 from the University of Puget Sound. They settled in Tacoma after HowardÂ's military discharge. Five years after HowardÂ's death, Betty moved to Beachcrest, a small community north of Olympia, where she lived out the rest of her days enjoying her view and her garden.Survivors include her sons, Richard and Thomas, daughters-in-law, Loretta and Janet, as well as beloved grandsons, Steven and Mark Linstad.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2006 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel in Tacoma, WA.In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Thurston County.
