Elgin Eugene Olrogg,'s Obituary
Elgin Olrogg, Sr. was born August 17, 1922 in Dunkirk, New York. At the age of 10 his family moved to Niagara Falls, NY. He attended Niagara University until serving 3-1/2 years as an infantry officer during World War II overseas. He then returned to finish his education. He received an appointment as a Special Agent in the FBI (1947-1972) and spent 24 of those years in Tacoma. After retiring from the FBI, he organized the Ben B. Cheney Foundation and served as CEO until retiring in 1992.Elgin served on many boards, to include the San Francisco Giants baseball team. He also served as a member of the Washington State Gambling Commission under governors Dixie Lee Ray and John Spellman. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and four children, son Elgin Jr., of Everett, WA, and daughters Elizabeth Biser of Shelton, WA; Suzanne Hiebert of Grangeville, ID and Julie Kohler of Oregon City, OR. Elgin has five grandchildren and is also survived by his brother, Roy Olrogg, who resides in Florida. Elgin was a longtime member of Oakbrook Country Club, Tacoma Country Club and Sun City Country Club in Arizona. At Elgin,'s request there will be no funeral services.
