Edward M Long 's Obituary
Edward M. Long, 81, died peacefully on 9/11/2017 at his home in Lacey, Washington.
Born September 25th 1935, in Centerville, South Dakota, Ed graduated from Lincoln High
School in 1954 where he played starting point guard on the school's basketball team. In 1957 he
married his High School sweet-heart Donna Seydell and two stayed happily married for 60+
years.
During his time in the military, Ed was promoted to Sergeant where he worked as a Nike
Missile Specialist from 1954 to 1957. After his military employment he worked in the food
industry, later starting a career in sales and estimating with a roofing company.
Ed is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, Don (Kelly), DeAnn (Ross) Thysens, and Dale
(Unity); his brothers Barry and Kevin Long; his grandsons, Ryan Long, Gordon Long, Curtis
(Jayme) Long, Jerad (Dani) Thysens, Gavin (Fiance' Ashley) Thysens, Jeffrey Long and Nathan
Long; as well as six great grandchildren.
Ed enjoyed travelling with family, gardening, special times at 'The River', teaching Bible
studies and above all, family gatherings. Ed was kind, witty and wise; never missing an
opportunity to bestow knowledge when prompted, especially in ministry. Well loved and
respected by those in his family and in his community, he will be sorely missed.
Mr. Long is preceded in death by his parents, Ed C. Long and Evelyn (Peterson) Long.
