Ed Freitas touched my life. Shortly after I became a believer, I attended the Bible study he conducted at work in Crystal City, VA. I grew because of his love for the Lord and the example he lived. In time he encouraged me to lead the study. He would travel from Virginia to Maryland to pick my wife and I up to attend Christian Center when we did not have a car. I found this tribute when I was trying to to find where Ed was. That’s when I learned he is enjoying face to face fellowship with the Lord. My Grandpa was the godliest man I have ever know. Whenever we spent time with him, he would share stories about how he led all kinds of different people to the Lord and always told us the importance of putting God first in our lives. He was always in the best mood. I don't think i ever heard him raise his voice once. I was fortunate enough to take my husband and son out to visit him back in August. His face lit up when he saw us. And even though this was the first time that he had met my husband, he treated him like he was his own grandson and had known him for years. I am so very blessed to have gotten the chance to say my goodbyes. He is missed every single day. I love you Grandpa.

Thinking about how my father impacted my life and finding it difficult to pick out only a few things. I have 57 years to draw from and he was there for every day of it. Dad was strong, faithful, generous, sincere and completely honest. He was by far the best example of Christian servitude that I have ever seen. He lived every day serving Jesus first. He never missed a day of prayer and devotion. Even on family vacations, dad would pray and read the bible to us before we started our day.

Dad was my protector and provider through my childhood years and my friend and advisor in adulthood. He showed me what it meant to be a parent with unconditional love, a spouse with a life-long commitment to marriage, a brother who would give anything he had to be supportive, a child with complete respect for his parents, and a Christian who put Christ above all else.

I thank God every day for placing me in the family of this great man of God. Until we meet again in paradise. . .

Friday October 24th the gates of Heaven opened up wide to receive another Saint. The welcoming committee must have been miles long with all the people you affected in your lifetime. You were the finest Christain man I've ever known. You loved your family, you loved people but most of all you loved the Lord with all your heart. Having you not here is an over whelming loss to me, but I will see you in the near future. I can't wait. I love you.

I never met Uncle Ed but my father did take us all to Tacoma when I was 12 to Uncle Herman's house so I did have the pleasure of meeting them. Dad Freitas (Ed) was the best father in law and grandfather. He loved God and he loved his family, dad always had a sweet smile on his face and a good word to say. I have not known a man that I admire and respect more. I always loved the way he just had to kiss his grand babies on the head or rub their heads with such love and affection every time he walked by them. What a sweet, sweet man you were. Thank you for being the man you were and for letting us witness your daily walk with God. With all my heart I love you.
