Douglas Paul Newkirk, 65 years of age, passed away August 21, 2017 at Multicare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.
Doug was born January 14, 1952 in Yakima, WA to the late James and Clara Newkirk. Doug is the 3rd of 4 children and grew up in Black Diamond, Washington. Doug began working at Manke Lumber in 1978 and was a model employee, showing great pride through his work ethic for 39 years up until the point of his illness and death.
Doug is survived by his three siblings, his four beloved children, Zachary, Tara , Tyler, and Morgan, thirteen grandchildren, and his canine best friend Koda. His proudest accomplishment was the greatness he felt he achieved through his children.
Doug enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and loved any outdoor activity, motor sports in particular. Many of his happiest times were spent in the mountains riding snowmobiles, quads, and dirt bikes with his friends and family.
A man of fierce loyalty and deep love, Doug could always light up a room and make anybody laugh. He will be greatly missed by all that had the honor of knowing him. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Multicare Good Samaritan for their loving care of Doug during his difficult illness.
Memorial services will take place at the Garden Chapel on September 1st, 2017 3:00pm. A barbecue in honor of his life will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doug's honor to the Amyloidosis Foundation.
