It’s been almost a year since you left us here on earth. Not a second goes by that I don’t think of you. We talked every single day and I still talk to you. I know you are with us and with me always. Dear Doug, it's been 10 days since your passing and I really still can't believe it. There are so many things I wish, but I mostly wish you peace and love at this point. I want to thank you for your input about riding a motorcycle, making it so much fun, for teaching me better ways to ride and for making our Reno trip the best memories I hold in my heart. I can still hear you saying those posted speed limit signs for curves "is only a suggestion"... you rode with no fear my big brother. I am sorry I am attending your memorial tomorrow, but I will continue to honor your memory for the rest of my life. - forever, your little sister Ronda

I've had the honor and pleasure of knowing and working with Doug all of the 39 years at Manke Lumber. He has been loyal dedicated and hard working. One of the best employees I have ever had. Having Doug all of these years has made my job and my life much easier. Replacing him will be next to impossible. He will be truly missed. I thank the Lord for blessing me with Douglas Newkirk. Doug and I had a lot of fun together and created some beautiful children. I can never say how much it meant to me that he was a father to my youngest daughter when he didn't have to be. Lord, give my children strength in Your love.

I will always be grateful to Doug for all of his help in the care of our parents as the aged. He came every Sunday to spend time with them. He got the lumber and helped Ken and I build them a new deck. They were so proud of that deck. He made a cruise control for my motorcycle, using a wire coathanger. It was a very nifty cruise control.
