Dorothy Naomi Keil VettoriDorothy Naomi Keil Vettori was born on September 11, 1914 on the family farm just outside of Cedron, Missouri. She was the middle daughter of Laura Alvina (Geminden) and Frank Philip Keil. The family sold the farm and moved to Tacoma in 1933 where she worked for the Woolworth and JC Penney companies to help support her family. She married Walter E. Keil in 1940 and together they operated his grocery store in South Tacoma and raised their children Kathie and Walter E. Keil Jr. (Wally). Her husband died in 1953 and she ran the store on her own for some time. She married Aldo J. Vettori in 1957 and the family moved to Bellevue in 1958. She loved being home with her children, caring for the home while Al traveled in his work. After her children left home she continued to maintain their home for herself and her husband until just two years ago when she became ill.Dorothy was a charming woman for whom people always seemed to feel an instant affinity. She had friends from every part of her life, and maintained some of her friendships for her entire life. She loved birds and animals, books, flowers, plants and beautiful things. Throughout her life she adored her many pets, especially her little dachshund dogs.Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother and father, first husband, older sister Evelyn Anderson, and beloved son Wally. She is survived by her husband Aldo; younger sister Pauline Miller; daughter Kathie Keil Crozier; granddaughter Debbie Crozier; grandson Bob Crozier and his wife Wendy; great-grandchildren, Alexander Crozier, and Jessica Crozier; and son-in-law Cordell Shewell. She also leaves behind countless friends and acquaintances whom she touched with her warmth, kindness, and humor.For her entire life she worked hard, loved much, and held fast to her beliefs and desires. To the end, she fought the good fight and she did it her way. Good job Mom.Services will be held at 3pm, Saturday, May 29, 2004 in the Mt. View Garden Chapel.
