I express our sympathy to Dorothy's family. I first met Dorothy at the Emerald Glen Garden Club nearly 30 years ago and enjoyed her gracious, sweet-hearted personality and company many times in that setting. In the last decade we saw one another rarely, often just to wave as she and Al drove by, but every time we did meet, it was as if no time had passed. My last visit occurred late in 2003 when I happened to drive Al for a visit with her. Although she felt ill, I am sure, she made an effort to be welcoming and put me at ease. I thought it remarkable.
She spoke warmly of Al to me years ago, and his reciprocal appreciation of her was expressed to me recently.
We extend warm wishes to the family. This must be a very hard time.

Hi Kathie, I just wanted you to know that you and your family are in our thoughts. I feel like I got to know your mom through you here at work and am glad this fight is over for her.
I'm looking forward to seeing you back at work.

We have just learned of Dorothy's passing; my father, Frank Reid,
worked with Dorothy's dear husband Aldo at Western International
Hotels when I was growing up, so I have had the privilege of knowing
this rare and lovely lady for a good portion of my life; my adopted
sister would have the joy of knowing Dorothy in later years. We will
both always remember the sweet sound of her voice, her immense
kindness - she was always more concerned about others than herself, no matter how difficult her own health situation. Her love
of animals was a delight to share - including a specific love of dachsunds. We both consider it a true honor to have known this
special, gracious and irreplaceable lady. We send our most loving prayers to our dear friend Aldo, and all of Dorothy's precious family.
Aloha nui loa,
