Dorothy Ann McCullum's Obituary
Dorothy Ann McCullum passed away peacefully on December 12, 2023. She was born on January 29, 1955 to Rogers and Hisae (Oya) McCullum in Yokohama, Japan.
After moving to the United States, Dorothy lived with her family in Fort Leonard-Wood, Missouri and then began kindergarten while living at Fort Lewis, Washington all during her father’s career in the U.S. Army.
Dorothy was a Tacoma resident most of her life and attended both Lincoln and Wilson high schools. Dorothy trained to be a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and worked at Park Rose Care Center and also as a housekeeper at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking and grilling for her friends and family, crocheting, and listening to R&B from the 70s. She was known for her sense of humor and inability to keep a secret. However, you could go to her for advice about anything without fear of judgment.
She is survived by her three children Lenwood, Hisae, and Jennifer; eight grandchildren; Solomon, Shiara, Antonyo, Isaiah, DeAnthony, Destiny, Natiah, and Darius; three brothers, Rogers Jr., Willie, and Thomas; two uncles, Yukimasa Komori and Shigeo Oya; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
She is also remembered fondly by several non-biological children and grandchildren that she helped to raise.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rogers C. McCullum Sr., and Hisae Oya Calhoun.
A celebration of life will be held on January 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, Washington.
