Dorothy Huseby's Obituary
Dorothy died peacefully at home, on Sunday, May 30, 2004. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on May 1, 1920, and as a young woman she and her family traveled to Washington State in a Model A Ford. She attended Jason Lee Junior High and Stadium High School in Tacoma. In 1939 she married Larry Huseby, who was known throughout the area for his name in the radio and the advertising industry, and as an avid northwest golfer.She was proud of her beautiful garden, enjoyed cooking, and her passion was watching the Mariners and the Seahawks; she was looking forward to the Belmont Stakes Horserace on Saturday. Up until recently, she loved to play golf. More recently she enjoyed playing bridge with her dear friends --- as long as she got Â"good cardsÂ". She was a member of the Tacoma Country and Golf Club.She leaves behind her daughter, Donna Crabbe and husband, Jim, of Olympia; her grandson, Brian Cayton (Kathy), of Irvine, California, and Jim Cayton (Rachel), of Gig Harbor. She is also survived by her grandchildren-friends, Jim Crabbe (Carrie), Janet Kirkman (Derik) and Julia Crabbe and her friend, Chris. She also survived by her great-grandchildren, Maris, McCrae, Connor, Carson and Mia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, and her brother Albert (Bud) Swan.Dorothy will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her sense of humor, her caring of all human beings, and her love of animals. Her love was unconditional.A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 4, at 2 p.m., at Mountain View Garden Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd, Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society, 2608 Center St, Tacoma, WA 98409, or the organization of your choice.
