Dorothy died peacefully at home, on Sunday, May 30, 2004. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on May 1, 1920, and as a young woman she and her family traveled to Washington State in a Model A Ford. She attended Jason Lee Junior High and Read Obituary
Dorthy one of a knid. She was a very thoughtful and giving person. We came to know her as a loving, very good neighbor and member in Lakewood Oaks. She was a wise and excellent Bridge player, and shared many great card playing times with our Bridge group. We loved having Dorothy and Larry as neighbors. We lived across the street on Hillcrest Dr. Dorothy came over in the middle of the night to watch our kids while another one was being born (in the middle '70's)! She was affraid the kids would be freightened to see someone else upon waking, but they too loved her gentlessness...and that contageous smile.##imported-begin##Tom Funkhouser##imported-end##
We will always remember Dorothy as a very kind, sensitive and lovely person,who also had a good sense of humor. It is our genuine pleasure to have known her. She was so much fun to visit with and was always interested in what others had to say. She was never judgmental and always sensitive to the views of others. Dorothy was a dear friend of my husband. My husband, Bill Thompson, died on 1998. He and Larry played lots of golf together. Dorothy was a lovely person. She and I used the same beauty shop for a long time.##imported-begin##Jean Thompson##imported-end##
From the first day I met Dorothy I knew she was my friend. We shared our love of gardening and many other confidences. She was by far the best neighbor I could have ever asked for and also became one of my best friends. I could always turn to her and she to me to share our family joys and triumphs as well as their downs. I will miss her as one of my own
personal confidants as you could rely on her not to repeat what you revieled in trust. I find it hard to go in my back yard at certain times and not find her in hers watering and then we would chat awhile. I always marveled at her garden because I use to stick the plants I got in their pots into a container but she always repotted and mixed them up to become something colorful. She loved her family dearly and looke d forward to any time spent with them and never critized anyone and looked for the best in everyone. She was so supportive in my grief and I so appreciated being able to know she was always there for me, be it good times or bad. I use to look out in the morning and see her looking over her flowers in her bathrobe. We both did that alot and shared so many hopes and dreams for our families. I truely found a friend in Dorothy and I'm at a loss for the feelings I had for her and the concern. I may have a new friend and neighbor but I don't think there will ever be another like this fine lady, and she was very much a lady. She will be missed.
