Donald Dean Kitchen's Obituary
We've lost a humble and gentle man. Donnie, age 78 was a long time resident of Lakewood and a well known and respected businessman in the community. He lost his courageous fight and passed away due to multiple health complications. He was born in Tacoma, WA, the son of Cyril and Amy Kitchen. He was preceded in death by his dad Cyril. He graduated from Clover Park High School then worked as a carpenter and superintendant for KEW Construction, while dreaming of building and owning his own business. At the age of 36, he helped design and then went on to build his dream, The Schooner Tavern, where he spent the following 40 years. Throughout those years he sponsored and played on The Schooner softball team and The Schooner bowling team. Honorably, he worked his entire life to support and care for his loving family. He is loved and respected by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his mother Amy; brothers Bill (Roeme) and Ed (Sharon); sister Edie (Bud); dedicated and devoted wife of 58 years, Rita; sons Steven (Annette) and Michael; daughter Kelly (Brandy); 7 grandchildren Nick, Skyler, Riley, Heather, Kayla, Austin and Sydney; 4 great-grandchildren Stevi, Warren, Nathaniel and Taten.
