Rita and family, Want to say how sorry we are. We have known Donnie for 40 years or so, had many a good times at the Schooner. The Schooner sponsored our basketball team for many years and yes I was a part of the group who would swing from the ropes in the early days. We always appreciated the donations for our Girls and Boys Club Golf Tournament for the last 15 years. The services were so nice, thank you for sharing him.

My Dear Rita, Steve, Mike, Kelly and Families,
A true legend has moved on to a better place! I, like so many others, believe I have been blessed to call Donny one of my friends. I had to chuckle today in the service when Mark brought up the fact that Donny never forgot a name! I cannot count the number of times that I was in The Schooner as "Jim"!! Years ago, he realized one day that he had been calling me by my dad's name. He came over and apologized over and over again. I had to assure him that it was an honor to be confused with my dad of whom I was very proud. He felt so badly! Well, the next twenty years I was Lyle sometimes and Jim all the others!
The service was beautiful, the slides very fun, the grandchildren's tributes awesome and Steve Olson's music incredible! I wish you all strength through memories of wonderful times with the Captain!! Love to you! Lyle Attebery aka "Jim"

He gave me my first job in Washington when I moved here from out of state and that was many years ago, I will always remember him as a hard worker and kind & wonderful man who would do anything for you and a great boss.
