Donald Gay Johnson's Obituary
Donald Johnson of Lakewood passed away on July 1, 2005. Remembered as a man who loved life and loved people, especially his wife and family, he was born April 22, 1923 in Bellingham to Ione and Julius Johnson. Raised in Puyallup, he graduated from Puyallup High School and attended Washington State College. During World War II he was an Army Aircorps B-24 pilot and returned home to marry Dorothy Yeager of Tacoma. He was a successful building contractor in Lakewood and active in the community as a long-time Clover Park School Board Member and charter member of Christ Lutheran Church. In a life characterized by talent and adventure, he was a master woodworker and avid skier, proud of skiing with his friends until his 80s. He is proceeded in death by son Tom, survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy, four children Cindy (Mike) Cummings, Marlene (Bob) Stoehr, Brian (Marta), Jim (Erica), TomÂ's wife Ann, grandchildren Kevin, Mark, and Teri Cummings, Jessica and Kali Stoehr, Alexandria, Michaela and Jeffrey Johnson and his sister Iris Henning. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, July 9 at Christ Lutheran Church in Lakewood. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Franciscan Hospice or charity of choice.
