Donald Duncan's Obituary
Donald Lee Duncan, 93, beloved husband passed away in his sleep after fighting a battle with pneumonia on December 23, 2025, on his 93rd birthday. Donald was born December 23,1932, in Springfield, MO to Ross and Clara Duncan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Mie (nee Shibukawa), father, mother, brother Ross (Bud), and sisters Carol, Patricia, and Nancy.
Donald served his country in the United States Army. His military assignment to Japan, is where he met Mie. Other assignments were in California, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Vietnam and Washington.
Donald’s military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th award), Certificate of Achievement, Combat Infantryman's Badge (2nd award), Korean Service Medal, Marksman Badge, Merit Unit Commendation, National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and many Letters of Commendation.
Donald’s pleasures in life were the first cup of coffee, SOS, golfing, Country music, travelling with Mie to the Red Wind Casino for lunch and The Fan Club. Donald and Mie enjoyed travelling with Donne and Lisa Daniels to Lake Havasu.
Donald is survived by his brother William (DD) and sister Shirley Kroutil of Strafford, MO. Nephews and nieces in Strafford, MO; Chicago, IL; and Bakersfield, CA.
Upon retirement, Donald received an Associate in Liberal Arts and an Associate in Technical Arts, at Tacoma Community College. Donald was also employed as the Pierce County Assessor.
Donald leaves behind close friends, Suzanne Weston, Donne and Lisa Daniels, and Bruce Forsgren. The family respectfully requests donations made to the charity of your choice. A special thank you to the personnel at Madigan Army Medical Center for their compassion and professional assistance with Donald’s care.
Services will be held on January 31st, 2026, at 1:00, in the Aspen Building at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA.
