My family visited Don and Mie the summer of 1978 I was 13.
They took us to see so many things, Mt Rainier, The Space Needle,
digging for clams, The USS Missouri, fishing in Puget Sound.
Mie fixed Sukiyaki for dinner one evening, it was amazing!
I remember we were waiting to take the Ferry across The Sound and Don
went walking to find a Pub and I followed at a distance. When I walked in the bartender yelled no minors get out! Thrown out of my first Bar,
Uncle Don stayed and had a beer.
I still have the ash Mie sent me when Mount St. Helens erupted.
Thank You Don and Mie for so many great memories.

I have lots of fond memories of visits at Don and Mie's house. We would sit in the backyard and watch Miki and Riley play. When the Italian plums were ripe, I would pick the top ones, and Don and Mie would pick the bottom ones. One year I picked 550 Italian plums from the top!!! They loved the buffets at Red Wind casino, so we would go when it was a holiday and took our time eating. Mie loved going to Uwajimaya, so we would make a day of shopping there. After Mie passed, I enjoyed hearing stories of how Don met her and where they were stationed at. I was very blessed to have them as a second set of parents.
