My fondness memory that brought us together was serving in the United States Army and being able to call him a brother in arms. It became far more than that when I was in an accident and Derek and his wife, Lisa and kids at the time mamas and Isaiah allowed me to stay in their home to take care of me after I was hospitalized. He is a good man to have by your side, whether it was in uniform or as a friend. I thank you for those memories my brother and you will forever live in my mind and heart. And even though I live far away from your family, I want them to always know. I am here for them the best I can for life. Until the next time I see you, brother. Love you. Bowers

Lisa and Sandifer Family, it is a sad day when someone loses a parent regardless of the circumstances. The guilt of not saying, "I love you", or "Thank you" haunts us. But you are a strong, resilient family who endured Derick's condition until the end. Your bond was unbreakable, and your spirit is unshakable. His love for you will live on, and your relationship and memories of him will live beyond the grave. To the honorable soldier in the field in the defense of our freedom and service of our country, rest in peace, we got this. I leave you with this Bible promise found in Matthew 25:23:
