Dearest Braun Family:
We were both so moved by Pastor Johns service today as he spoke so eloquently on Deriks personaliy and connection of his love for all of you. As I looked upon that beautiful casket I could almost hear him look down also and exclaim.."Oh God,..What have I done!" Well, I am sure the good Lord will put him to work immediately in HIS SERVICE in Heaven. The trumpet Soloist who taught Derik Lessons, caught me on that High note and I could feel the strong pressence of our Lord in our sanctuary and throughout my whole being! I hope you felt it too. While you are grieving, be sure & speak to your son in your deepest silent thoughts. I KNOW he will hear you.

My heart breaks for all of Derek's friends and beloved family. I got to know him over ten years ago. We played in the church bell choir together, and he always made me smile. His smile was absolutely infectious! In the wake of this tragic loss, may God be your strength and comfort.

Our hearts simply broke to hear of your loss. It is just so difficult to understand and accept. We have thought of you daily since we found out the news, and cannot even fathom what you must be going through.

The last time we saw Derek was at Phil and Barbie's wedding in July! In fact, I, Dianne, made him dance with me during the reception. He was such a good sport and we had so much fun. I still see his fabulous smile even now!

Dan and I had the wonderful opportunity to have some pretty long talks with him at various events (wedding, receptions, etc) through the last year or so. We had known the boy before, but were lucky enought to get to know the man. Derek was proud to be an uncle, and spoke of his niece so fondly! It was lovely to witness that new experience with him.

We are so grateful for the wonderful friendship he shared with Phil and Barbie. Derek will be much remembered and thought of with love by many. We continue to keep your family and all of Derek's friends in our prayers##imported-begin##Dianne and Dan Stoehr##imported-end##

I honestly am speechless. I would love to talk with becky or someone. I have not been able to get dereck out of my head. I wish we would have stayed close friends as we were in heritage . I am deeply sorry for your loss . It hurts me as well. Im gonna try to make it to his funeral if i can find the funds. I love you all. Julie and I are very sorry to hear of Derek's passing. The loss of your child is the toughest loss of them all. No words can give you comfort. Just know that you are in our thoughts and our prayers. Your son was a fine young man whom you could be proud of.
