Dean Perry Fays' Obituary
Dean Fays was a wonderful man; he was a renaissance man. Talented in art and music, art was his long-time love; he was classy, wise, dignified, creative, funny, precious, generous, unknowingly to many, forgiving, sweet, and very tender. I was allowed to know him for 42 years, I would have so liked to have more, but that was not God’s will, and His will is perfect. I also had a junior high crush on him 50 years ago!
Before I knew him, he was a surfer and used his artistic talents to go places like San Francisco and Santa Cruz; selling quick art studies to buy bus tickets, meals and snacks. He was very creative in getting around the San Francisco bay are before he could drive!
Dean and I were both born in Oakland, in different hospitals. His family moved around the bay area, and settled in Fremont. He had an older brother, Donald, who also died at age 64 in Hawaii; his mom, Charlene had him late in life, but always declared “he was a very-much-wanted baby”. He has several brothers and sisters in Heaven already, who were not able to be born. His step dad was Pop to him, Dale raised him as a father would.
Dean loved many things; most of all, the Lord, his children, me! He loved sketching, always a pen in hand and wonderful doodles and complete pictures would flow. He had mastered digital painting, and has several finished works on a virtual site.
Dean precedes in his Homegoing his wife, Virginia Fays, his two daughters, Tara Fays Cocchiarella, of Gig Harbor, WA,; and Whitney Fays Barnes, of Ballston Spa, NY; and his son Jared Fays, of Bloomington, IN. His humor, creativity, and sweet nature will be greatly and sorely missed; but we’ll all be with him in Glory one day.
