Dean A. Woods' Obituary
Dean A. Woods Born April 3, 1933 in Appleton, Wisconsin; passed away May 24, 2008 in Tacoma, WA. The family relocated to Seattle, 1943. Dean joined the Merchant Marines in 1949 and then served in the U.S. Army 1953-1955. Married Arnice Jean Watten of Tacoma, July 1954. In 1959 he started his international business career with Pfizer Laboratories after graduation from Mexico City College (now University of the Americas), living and working in Mexico, Colombia, Trinidad, and San Mateo, CA. In 1967 he continued his international career with American Cyanamid Corp., living in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Mexico. In 1984 Dean retired to Steilacoom, WA, doing consulting work with the World Bank and D&W Investments. His love of boating and fishing was expressed with family members and friends on Puget Sound. A true spirit, with a love of people around the world and devotion to his family will be his legacy to all who have loved him. Dean is survived by his wife Jean of 53 years, sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Johnny Rush, nieces Shannon and Mike Linker and family, Cheryl and Jon Owens and family, Shelly and Zeb Darrah and family, nephew Douglas and Melody Slachter and family, very dear cousins June Carlson and family and Eileen Mienecke and family of Wisconsin, extended family Ann deJong and family of Hawaii and David Bothel of San Antonio, TX, his godsons Chris and Ken Velez and their mother Yolanda Cascias of Conn., and lifelong friends John and Delores Moran of Seattle. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the Garden Chapel at Mt. View Funeral Home, Lakewood, WA. Please sign online guest book at www.mountainviewtacoma.com.
