David L. Strait's Obituary
David passed away 19 January 2005 after a 2 year struggle with ALS (Lou GehrigÂ's disease). He was born the 11 June 1949 in Tacoma, WA and graduated from Wilson High School in Tacoma in 1968. During his early years Dave enjoyed the outdoors belonging to Explorer Search and Rescue and a member of the Tacoma Mountaineers climbing, hiking, kayaking and skiing. He attended Bates Vocational School and took a Commercial Cooking course before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1970 Â- 1975.Dave loved traveling spending several weeks with only a backpack and rail pass traversing Europe and another time to England, Scotland and Wales. He was also devoted to dancing, Squares, Rounds, and Ballroom and enjoyed teaching them too.Dave worked for Diadora America in Kent and is survived by his mother, Viora and an uncle, Claude Yeager. A Celebration of His Life will be held March 5 from 2 Â- 5 PM at Steel Lake Grange, 2902 S 298th St., Federal Way (From N or S bound I-5 take 272 St. exit and go east to Military Rd, Turn right onto Military and continue south to 298th St., turn left on 298th, go to end of road [cul-de-sac] turn left into driveway of hall).Donations may be made to ALS Association, Evergreen Chapter, 6627 S 191st Place, Suite F-106 Kent, WA 98032, Providence Hospice Seattle or a charity of your own.
