I first got acquainted with Dave in Search and Rescue in the early 70’s and then our paths crossed in The Mountaineers, at volleyball in the gym at the First Christian Church in Tacoma and with all our friends at “El GroupoÂâ€. Dave was always a willing assistant when we presented a compass course for The Mountaineers and a great cook for the annual Mountaineer Thanksgiving dinners. I will always remember the good times we had.##imported-begin##Bill Harmon##imported-end##
I remember deliverying the mail to Dave and Vi, since they lived on my route when I was a Letter Carrier. I convinced Dave to become a "Brushmonkey" in Explorer Search and Rescue. He served the community for many years in ESAR and enjoyed the activity with other young people. He continued to work in ESAR as an adult Leader. He was always willing to respond to SAR missions, day and night. He will be missed by all of us in ESAR.##imported-begin##Grant (Smitty) Smith##imported-end##
I met Dave in the early 1980's through Tacoma Mountaineers. We attended many hikes and social events through El Grupo. I remember his cooking for Thanksgiving Dinners for Mountaineers. I remember a kind, sensitive and caring friend. He will be missed.##imported-begin##Leonor Allison##imported-end##
I knew David during 1966-1970 when he was associated with Explorer Post 515 (Mountaineering) and Explorer Search and Rescue. He was a fine young man. In 1967 he and his mother Vi went on a camping & climbing trip to the Cascade Pass area of the Cascades. In ESAR David was a Team Leader. May he rest in peace.##imported-begin##Bert E. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people stay for a while and leave footprints on our heart. And we are never, ever the same.
Rest in peace, Dave.##imported-begin##Tammy Larsen##imported-end##
I didn't know David, but it sounds like he was (and still is) a wonderful person. I lost my mother last year to ALS and know what you as his family and friends, as well as he, has gone through. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Keri Wickoren##imported-begin##Keri Wickoren##imported-end##
Dear Vi: It was always nice to dance with you and Dave. It is so sad for you to lose him. I hope you will feel like returning to
square dancing eventually. Your
