David L. Carter's Obituary
David Lester Carter, age 86, passed away of health related complications on October 28, 2025.
David was born in Ely Nevada on May 11, 1939, the first of five children. The family moved to Utah where he was raised. David was active in Boy Scout as a child and earned his Eagle Scout.
He joined the United States Army as a Paratrooper after graduating from high school having served for three years. David was stationed at Fort Lewis Washington when he met his wife, Janice Alice Ellison. They settled in Tacoma WA where they raised three children, Ted Carter, Adam Carter and Melissa Carter.
David and Janice were married for 62 years. David made his career as a Forman at Northwest Door, helping the company to grow over the years and providing countless job opportunities to those in need of work.
David was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint, serving twice as a Bishop, a Temple worker at the Seattle Temple, along with many other Church callings. David most enjoyed being a devoted Scout Leader to the youth.
David enjoyed tending to his lawn, flowers, rose bushes and fruit trees. David also enjoyed working on old cars and restored a 56 Chevy.
David leaves behind his wife Janice, three children Ted, Adam and Melissa, 6 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. An open house will be held at a later date for family and friends.
