David Berg's Obituary
David Edwin Berg, known as Dave, was born in Tacoma, Washington on April 28, 1949. He passed peacefully in Tacoma, Washington on September 11, 2025, at age 76.
Widely admired for being incredibly kind, loyal, and humble, Dave filled every room with warmth. He was an avid runner who proudly completed numerous half-marathons, a regular at the gym, and never missed a chance to lace up his boots for a night of line dancing with friends. His love of history—especially family history—led him to collect stories, photographs, and records that will live on for generations. When he wasn’t caring for his two beloved cats, he could be spotted taking a scenic drive in his cherished sports car, a 86 Toyota, with the windows down and playing his favorite tunes.
Dave’s working life reflected his commitment to community and connection. He served families at Mountain View Funeral Home, helped neighbors stay in touch while working for a telephone-book publisher, and greeted thousands at the Puyallup Valley Fair with his signature friendly smile. He also found joy at the Bonney Lake Senior Center, where he met many friends who loved him dearly.
He is survived by his sister Barbara Berg Beil; cousins Kay Younker Rosendal, Allan Younker, Carol Younker, Ken Berg, and Lorna Reynolds, and nieces Kathryn Berg and Kelsey Mann.
He was predeceased by his parents; Dolores Lyon Long and Robert Thayer Berg, and younger brother Jeffrey Thayer Berg.
Family asks guests to dress for the weather as the service will take place outside.
