The family of Dave Berg and the family of Paul and Mollie Debertin share a common ancestor, Hans Berg. Paul Debertin married Mollie Berg, an older daughter of Hans Berg. In the 1980s and 1990s he! two families used to have reunions every few years with lots of Debertins and Bergs present. Me, David Debertin and Dave Berg both share a common great grandfather, Hans Berg, and we were only just over a year apart age wise. I first met Dave at one of these reunions that was held at a motel in Whitefish, MT. These were quite the reunion parties and Dave arrived for one of these reunions on a motorcycle! More recently, I got reacquainted with Dave when we found each other on Facebook, and started exchanging photos from these reunions as well as photos of other Berg family members and of old houses where the Bergs lived. I discovered Dave and I shared a lot of other interests such as a shared fascination with two-door coupes like his most recent Toyota 86, and earlier the Datsun/Nissan coupe. Dave also loved steam train engines of all sorts, but was particularly fond of the Union Pacific “Big Boy”, a 4-8-8-4 steam engine that was among the largest ever built. He would go to locations where the Big Boy was going to be and take photos. Dave also had a strong interest in classical music of all sorts. For me, Dave has been a long-time Facebook friend as well as my second cousin and already I miss him greatly.
