I am very, very touched and honored to be part of the Koch family.
Choosing one memory is probably the hardest challenge I have had to do in some time just trying to get my mind around the fact that Dan is actually gone is very hard to do.
It is the day to day life that creates memories for example; dinner at their house and Dan sitting down and saying “where is the milk?†that would always make me laugh, He would make fresh bread, shrimp spaghetti; the best duck stir fry ever. Christmas morning Dan had the best sour dough batter for making waffles, I was always treated as part of the family.
I can’t seem to forget his smile, his laugh and his love for life. Dan and Delores go together like peanut butter and jam they are a team of their own. They did most everything together whether it was trap shooting, fishing, crabbing, clam digging, boating, and golfing. .
Going to the cabin in the van to Sunland and listening to the 8 track tape the whole way there, now that was living.
Because of Dan’s strength and strong work ethics that made me a better person just by knowing him; they say you live by example, by watching other people you admire.
He was always trying to teach me some life lesson, it was very common for he’s first words when I would go and visit to begin with “Did you know . . . .? Dan loved the Discovery channel and the Golfing channel for napping.
And he loved his grandkids all of them very much.
I will truly miss him more than words can express and he will always stay in my heart~
