Connie Marie Canny's Obituary
Connie was born Connie Marie Turner in 1936 and was raised in Wichita Kansas by mother Virginia and step-father Lee Yates. She graduated from East High School and married Sam Day in 1952. They had two children. Connie worked at Wichita Pump as a secretary.
In 1958, she met the love of her life, Jerry Canny and they married in 1960. Together, they raised a family of 5 kids.
In 1963, Jerry was transferred to Savannah Georgia where they spent two years then they transferred again, for the last time, to Tacoma Wa. in 1965. Connie fell in love with the Northwest, she camped with her family most weekends till they were in high school.
Connie worked as the Office Manager at Keithley Jr. High for 35 years and Connie was an avid bowler until her retirement and loved going bass fishing, working in her yard, reading and spending time at her second home at "the island"
She retired to enjoy her grandkids and playing BINGO, then evolved to the Slots at the Emerald Queen.
Connie is also survived by her two special friends: Judy Sherwood and Jean Louch.
She made so many good friends along the way and they had many adventures together.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry in 1989, her mother, Virginia, her sister Cheryl and her grandson, Kyle Canny.
She leaves behind her brother Dennis Lee (Linda) Yates, her 5 children: Kenton, (Maureen), Claudette Duris (Jim), Debbie Wood (Jeff) Sam Day (Kim) and Greg. Her 15 grandchildren, Jennifer Marie, Jesse, Zach, Crystal, Sarah, JC, Trisha, Tim, Melissa Marie, Rachel, Sam, Meagan, and Kevin, Mathew, Adam. Connie also has 14 great-grandchildren.
