My dad was a quiet man who would rather show you rather than tell you. Dad was a hard worker that lived his life providing for his family. I never heard him raise his voice one time to my mother. He set the example on how to treat a women. I remember when I was a 13 I was a baseball pitcher in a championship game. Dad spent most of my youth grooming me to pitch. This was his main goal at the time. The day of the big game my friend and I were out front playing on my skateboard waiting for dad. He came out and real cool like said, “ hey I use to have a board when I was a kid , let me give it a try”. I told him NO , Dad your going to hurt yourself. He says, yeah, right and steps on it. His foot stood on that board and ....let’s just say I’ve never seen a body bend like that before. He went up and straight down. Never in my life had I ever heard my dad scream for mom like that. He came down causing a compound fracture I was stunned my friend ran home. He went to the hospital and mom took me to the game. I was just starting to begin the game and here is dad standing behind home plate. I smiled from ear to ear and pitched my best game ever. After the game I saw my dads arm and asked him where’s your cast? Dad says, “ well , I have to get one now. He said,I got to the hospital and they said it was going to take over an hour to see me. He said, “ I knew I wasn’t going to miss this game for nothing , so I left ! I told them , I’ll be back when my son is done pitching tonight”. My dad taught me how to be a father. Love you , Dad...
