Cleophus Dwane Chatman's Obituary
Cleophus Dwane Chatman, Jr., was born on January 1, 1941, in Waco, Texas. He made the journey home on March 17, 2003. There is comfort in knowing that he is at peace and is at the right hand of God with his personal greeters consisting of his Mother, Rosie Lee Sargent, and Sisters, Shirley and Niecie, and all his friends and Masonic Brothers who have gone before him.Cleophus was raised in Waco, Texas by his Mother and Three Sisters. In 1958 he joined the United States Army and began to see the world.He had a distinguished Military career spanning 22 years in the US Army. Three tours in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star among many other awards and decorations, recognizing his meritorious service to his country. His final assignment was at Fort Lewis Washington where he retired in 1982.Cleophus Dwane Chatman was an amazing man who accomplished so much through in his time here with us. He was always there for his wife and children no matter how hard times became. Thank you Lord for sharing him with us as long as you did. His beloved wife of 42 years, Barbara Ann Chatman, his daughter, Vicki Elaine Brooks, his three sons, Cleophus Dwane Chatman, III, Ronald Earl Chatman, and Larry Donnell Chatman and their families survive him.Visitation will be Sunday March 23, from 1:00pm - 9:00pm at Mt. View with funeral services 1:00pm Monday March 24, 2003 in the Mt. View Valley Chapel.
